Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at info@portsmouthhouseclearances.co.uk if you cannot find an answer to your question. Alternatively, please call the office on 023 9200 9390.

The answer to this question depends on so many factors, which is why we recommend a visit to the property.

The aim is to reuse and recycle as much as possible from every clearance. We take most furniture and bric a brac to local charity shops. Any paper, cardboard, books (that cannot be reused), metal, electronics and cable all gets recycled.

This can vary depending on house size, access, parking and volume of items that need clearing. An average time based on a 3 bedroom house with 'easy access' would take 6 - 8 hours.

No. We often deal with family members that are not local to Portsmouth so agree other ways to gain access to the property. This can be organised for the quote and clearance to make the process easier for you. The following options may be available; neighbour/friend holds a key, estate agent holds a key or a keysafe.

Yes. If the items that need clearing hold a certain value, then yes, this could be an option.

Unfortunately, there are a few items that we are unable to take including; asbestos, gas bottles, fire extinguishers, certain chemicals, fuel and clinical or biological waste.

No, a house clearance company will do all of the work for you. We sort through everything and take it all away. You don't have to lift a finger.

First of all, if you are reading this, you have found one!

You have to be very careful with who you trust as you could be fined if your items are not disposed of correctly. Most reputable waste clearance companies would proudly display their licence details on their website.

Yes. Any items that have value may be sold to keep the cost of the clearance as low as possible.
